Welcome to Beatty, Nevada, the "Gateway to Death Valley". This
historical community was found at the turn of the century as the hub
of "Bullfrog Mining District" and lies on the border of
Death Valley National Monument. Beatty was once served by three
railroads that whistled through to the booming metropolis of
Rhyolite. Rhyolite now is a ghost town and the railroads run 115
south through Las Vegas.
Some of old Beatty can still be seen. The
Exchange Club still does business in the same building that George
Greenwood built in 1906. The old bar's history is untraceable, but
it probably made several stops on its way to Beatty from San
Francisco. It could tell stories of boom or bust from its travels.
Today there are reminiscence of a once booming town of Rhyolite, Nevada, with ruins of a large operational gold mill, just four (4) miles West of Beatty. Beatty remains a center of wonderful desert activity. There are many adventuresome activities in and around activities ranging from hiking, off-road vechicle use to rock hunting to bird and burro watching.
Beatty is a friendly town that welcomes other friendly folks year 'round. Services are available 24 hours a day. There are many modern motels, and RV parks to accommodate travelers for long or short stays.
Beatty is located 6 miles from the Nevada/California border, 115 miles north of Las Vegas. You will find Beatty nestled in a small valley, surrounded by three peaks; Bare Mountain, Sawtooth Mountain, and the Bullfrog Hills. We hope that you will enjoy our clean fresh air, friendly people, spectacular scenery and our great quality of life.
