Beatty

"Gateway to Death Valley"

UNINCORPORATED TOWN

Established in 1904

LOCATION: South central Nevada

AREA: 1 square mile

AVERAGE ELEVATION: 3,300 feet

Beatty was founded as a hub for several railroads which served numerous nearby mining districts. The atmosphere is one of a friendly, old west small town with plentiful recreational opportunities nearby.

The area currently has one large mine and several smaller ones operating close to town. The larger mine is slated to cease production in late 1999, discussion with the operator is underway to convert a portion of this site to an industrial park and incubator. The Beatty airport is slated for expansion and development into an industrial zone as part of the Nevada Science and Technology Corridor. The town is planning for their part of this corridor and fiberoptic cabling is expected by late 1999.

Among services locally available is a blasting firm which also provides high quality quarried stone, sand and aggregate. Plans are underway for a mining related industrial park on their sizable property with ample water and power available.

Several casinos, motels and restaurants serve the town along with one of the area’s best donut shops. The town’s several garages are supplied by a full service Napa auto parts store.

A subsidized senior housing project recently opened and another housing project containing upscale modular homes is in the final planning stages.
