GABBS

"We Have Only Just Begun"

INCORPORATED AS CITY IN 1955

LOCATION: Central Nevada

AREA: 6 square miles

AVERAGE ELEVATION: 4,700 feet

Gabbs began its existence in the 1940's with the construction of a magnesium plant. Gold was later discovered in the area and has been the economic base since then. Although mining operations are severely curtailed as compared to past years, the city enjoys a stable workforce base of workers trained in various industrial disciplines. The water and sewer systems were recently renovated with capacity well in excess of projected demand. High capacity power lines serve the area. Land is readily available for commercial and/or industrial development. Housing is also available, as is a developed mobile home park - all of which may be purchased. Access via highway is year-round and state route 361 is considered by locals to be a faster way to Reno and Carson City than US 95.

Gabbs is the gateway to the Berlin/Ichthyosaur state park and plans are underway to increase tourism capacity with construction of a gas station/truck stop and convenience store as well as a larger motel.

A city council/mayor form of government assures local control by an industrial-friendly community.
